I really recommend reading The Psychological Roots of the Climate Crisis: Neoliberal Exceptionalism and the Culture of Uncare by Sally Weintrobe. It covers all of this so well :) . We all have the potential within us to be uncaring, selfish, spoilt toddlers.. it's just that some environments promote that part of us more than others.
